Microneedling has become a well-known and frequent treatment since it was made famous by celebrities such as Rupert Everett and Kim Kardashian. Microneedling uses plasma rich protein (PRP) to help make skin look more youthful, for both men and women. This procedure involves three separate stages.
A small amount of your own blood is drawn and centrifuged, in order to separate out the plasma from the rest of the blood. This is then used to create the PRP. By using your own plasma, which contains growth factors tied to your own body’s unique makeup, this procedure is able to rejuvenate skin.
During this stage, skin is numbed and then treated with the microneedles. These microneedles produce the same beneficial effects as a fractionated laser. They reduce acne scars, as well as wrinkles and fine lines. Unlike the fractionated laser, microneedling does not put you at risk for burns or hyperpigmentation.
Once the PRP is prepared, and the microneedling completed, the PRP is then applied directly to your face so that the plasma rich proteins can saturate your skin. Because the PRP procedure uses plasma from your own body which stimulate an increase in elasticity, your face will look younger.
How long does it take?
It may take up to six treatments, spaced out over a four to eight week period in order to see the best results from your Microneedling procedure.
