Laser Hair Removal – Post Treatment Instructions
Following your treatment, it’s normal to experience some temporary redness or bumps. Proper aftercare will help ensure the best results and reduce any risk of complications.
Immediately After Treatment
- Redness and small bumps in the treated area are common and may last up to 2 hours or longer.
- The skin may feel like it has a mild sunburn for a few hours.
- Use a cold compress if needed to soothe the area.
- If crusting occurs, apply an antibiotic cream.
- Aloe vera gel or an after-sun product (such as Desitin) can be used to calm discomfort—especially helpful for darker skin tones, which may be more sensitive.
Makeup & Moisturizing
- Makeup can be applied unless there is blistering.
- Use new makeup products to reduce infection risk.
- Always apply moisturizer under makeup—frequent moisturizing helps dead hairs shed more easily.
- Choose a moisturizer without alpha-hydroxy acids.
Sun Protection & Hair Removal Guidelines
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 months to reduce the risk of dark or light spots.
- Apply SPF 25+ sunscreen daily during your treatment series and for 1–2 months afterward.
- Avoid picking, scratching, or using other hair removal methods (waxing, plucking, depilatory creams) during the course of your treatments, as these can interfere with results.
Showering & Hygiene
- You may shower after treatment using mild soap; gently pat skin dry instead of rubbing.
- Deodorant can be applied after 24 hours.
Hair Shedding
- Between 5–30 days post-treatment, treated hairs will shed. This is not new growth—it's dead hair being expelled from the follicle.
- You can help this process by gently washing or wiping with a washcloth.
- Hair regrowth timing varies by body area, but no new growth will occur for at least 3 weeks after treatment.
- Stubble from dead hair typically appears 10–20 days after treatment and will shed quickly.
- Hair regrowth happens in cycles; multiple treatments are needed for best results.
