Profound® Cellulite Reduction – Pre & Post Treatment Instructions
Following these guidelines will help minimize side effects and ensure the best possible results from your treatment.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
- If you have a special event or vacation coming up, you will want to schedule your treatment at least 2–3 weeks in advance.
- It is recommended to discontinue the use of Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment to minimize bruising or bleeding. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medications.
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24–48 hours before and after your treatment. These items may contribute to increased swelling or irritation.
- If you develop a cold, flu, infection, blemish, or rash, or any other type of skin disruption in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, we recommend that you please reschedule your appointment until it resolves.
- Pure Skin MedSpa will not perform Profound treatments on guests with current or past history of Dysphagia (“trouble swallowing”), currently pregnant or breastfeeding, with presence of infection at or near the injection sites, or under the age of 18.
- Pure Skin MedSpa will take careful consideration in performing Profound treatments on guests with excessive skin laxity, prominent platysmal bands, thyromegaly, cervical lymphadenopathy, pronounced sub-mandibular glands, prior surgery or aesthetic treatment to the treatment area, presence of scar tissue in the treatment area, sunburned or irritated skin, history of use of blood thinners, and current use of blood thinning agents or anti-coagulants.
- Pure Skin MedSpa will assist and advise in coordinating Profound treatments when being treated with other aesthetic services to provide optimal results and efficacy of concurrent treatments. Avoid skin irritation or intentional skin tanning. Sunscreen is advisable when outdoors during daylight hours.
Post-Treatment Care
- Wash normally using mild cleansers or soaps. Avoid washcloths and harsh cleansers until all transient healing processes have resolved naturally.
- Was treated area 3–4 times daily to clean.
- Apply a thin coat of antibiotic or healing ointment (Aquaphor or equivalent) to the treated area several times per day.
- Keep treated area moist AT ALL TIMES FOR 1 WEEK to avoid scab formation.
- To minimize the post-procedural inflammation, apply ice packs on the treatment zone for about 45 minutes after the procedure (15 minutes on, 15 minutes off).
- Sleep with a slightly elevated head for 5 days.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure on the treatment area and use a sunscreen (SPF 30+) for one month following the procedure.
- Expected downtime: 5–7 days.
- Change pillowcase daily for 5 days or use a clean towel each day to avoid soiling linens.
- Contact the office if you have any concerns about how your skin is responding to treatment or is healing.
Re-Treatment
Clinical testing suggests that wrinkle improvement can continue to develop for 3 to 6 months following treatment. Clinical literature suggests that the dermal remodeling process following non-ablative RF treatments can continue for 6 to 12 months. Re-treatment with the Profound system is not recommended prior to 6 months following the initial treatment.
