Restoring Hair Without Surgery Using Selphyl®PRFM

Hair can tell you a lot about a person, whether short, curly, or straight. In certain cultures, hair symbolizes virility and physical attractiveness, which is why people are willing to go to great lengths to protect and nurture it. Though hair removal for some parts of our bodies is done by choice, hair loss occurs naturally. If every day feels like a "bad hair day" because of natural hair loss, there are nonsurgical options you can try. Let's talk about hair loss and the Selphyl®PRFM treatment.

What Causes Hair Loss?

Hair loss is normal. You lose between 50 to 100 strands of hair every day. However, it becomes an issue when the number rises to more than 100. Contributing factors to hair loss include:

  • Genetics
  • Vitamin deficiency
  • Weight loss (rapid)
  • Loss of estrogen during menopause

According to The Hair Society, a majority of people all over the world will lose more hair than they can imagine. At some point, they may seek professional services for restoration. Just like there are hair removal treatments, there are also hair restoration methods, and these include:
Hair transplantation

  • Flap surgery
  • Scalp reduction
  • Tissue expansion

How Does Selphyl®PRFM Work for Hair Restoration?

Selphyl®PRFM hair treatment involves extracting a few platelets from your blood sample. A solution is then created from the platelets and injected into specific points of your scalp.

Selphyl®PRFM contains a high concentration of platelets which activates the cells at the base of your hair follicles. Once started, the strands increase beta-catenin production, a protein responsible for hair growth.

Selphyl® PRFM changes the structure of the platelets, making them more effective at stimulating the regrowth of hair.

What To Expect After Hair Restoration Treatment

Once the procedure is done, you are likely to experience some irritation and tenderness in injection areas. The irritation may also be accompanied by redness.

After your treatment, avoid exercising or washing your hair for at least 72 hours to prevent further irritation.

Selphyl® PRFM treatment has so far been successful. According to a 2020 review of a study conducted by the National Library of Medicine, 84% of participants reported an improvement in hair density.
